| For testing purposes, we provide a demo version only of WIVI Standard Edition from our downloads page.
The sound and instruments engine of Wivi Band is the same as WIVI Standard/Pro Edition, however it does not have as many options for tweaking the sound. There is no separate demo version of Wivi Band.
For differences in functionality of our software please consult the PDF documentation of respective product, found on our downloads page.
|
| A:
| Absolutely. Our software is sold under a single-user license, but you may install the software on multiple computers at once, as long as you are the only one accessing the software. We use watermarking copy protection, so you can store the installers on a USB stick and install on additional computers in the future.

| A:
| We are often asked about the status of future products, but unfortunately we cannot answer any questions on products not announced yet. For the time being we are looking into several technologies. Our long term goal is to do also WIVI strings, but modelling these instruments require additional technical development making it impossible to make any predictions about an eventual release date at this point.

| A:
| Yes, the instruments and sound engine is the same, but Wivi Band does not have as many options for tweaking the sound.
For differences in functionality of our software please consult the PDF documentation of respective product, found on our downloads page.
|
| A:
| Wivi Band is our simplest software, using the same sound engine but with not as many tweaking options.
WIVI Standard Edition includes our visual player, with on-stage positioning, and can be tried out by downloading the demo version from our downloads page.
WIVI Professional Edition looks similar to WIVI Standard Edition, but includes considerably more options for tweaking the sound and behavior of our instruments.
For more specific differences in functionality of our software please consult the PDF documentation of respective product, found on our downloads page.
|
| A:
| No you do not. Orchestral & Band Brass and Woodwinds & Saxophones both come with the Standard Edition Player, which is powerful enough for most purposes. The Professional Edition Player is an optional add-on, for those who want more in-dept control over the sound and behavior of our instruments and reverb engine.
|
| A:
| For the time being there are no plans for adding additional instruments to the Wivi Band product.
More instruments can be added by purchasing our "Orchestral & Band Brass" or "Woodwinds & Saxophones" collections, which are also compatible with the Wivi Band player.
|
| A:
| No, but both WIVI Standard and WIVI Professional support microtuning (including support for Scala files for custom tuning).
|
| A:
| Wivi Band was designed to be monotimbral. However, since our reverb engine is quite complex and requires a fair bit of CPU, we provide four different instrument channels in order to process four channels of instruments through a common reverb, to save CPU when working with multiple instruments.
Instruments that are split over several outputs each require their own reverb engine, adding as much to the CPU use as an additional plug-in instance does. So if you need a separate output for an instrument, please use an additional plug-in instance. If you want to use an external reverb, you may want to set the "Anechoic" setting in Wivi Band, which saves a lot of CPU.

| The most common breath controller still on the market is the Yamaha BC3a, and must be purchased separately. The device requires either a MIDI keyboard with a breath controller input, or you need to purchase the MIDI Solutions Breath Controller box to attach it to your computer. The MIDI Solutions Breath Controller is attached using regular MIDI cables, and can be used with for example the CME U2MIDI interface to attach your Yahama BC3a Breath Controller to USB.
For configuring the MIDI Solutions box, please consult the MIDI Solutions documentation and MIDI Solutions technical support. By default the box is configured to use CC7 (Volume) and if you wish to use another CC you need to reprogram it by sending appropriate MIDI Sysex messages from your music host program to the box.
Feel free to use the template MIDI files provided below for programming the MIDI Solutions box to use MIDI CC2 (Breath). The file marked "NO ECHO" does not let through incoming MIDI messages, and is what should be used unless you need incoming MIDI messages to be also passed on to the box's output (such as when inserting the box between your keyboard and computer).
These files are provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and may be used solely at your own risk.

| Our products by default respond to MIDI CC 2 data, but can be configured to respond to any MIDI CC or key velocity. Make sure your device sends MIDI CC data on the same CC as our software is configured to use.
To change input settings in WIVI Standard & Professional, please use the "INPUT DEVICE" settings on the instrument's "General Settings" panel.
To change input settings in Wivi Band, please go to Setup->Settings on the main screen.
We cannot provide technical support for hardware wind controllers by other companies, unfortunately. If you need help with configuring your wind controller we recommend consulting the manufacturer, in order to solve your problems without breaking the warranty.

| Double-clicking the disk image only mounts it as a folder. If the folder is not opened automatically, you will find it under "Macintosh HD" on the left column in Finder. Inside this folder you will find the software installer.

| Our software are audio plug-ins, and require a VST, AU or RTAS compatible music program to run. This is how most computer synthesizers work these days, because it allows you to use any music program of your choice to create music, using our sounds.
On Mac OS X you can for example use Garageband, which is an AU compatible host, shipped for free with OS X Leopard or higher. Inside Garageband you can open our software as an instrument plug-in on an instrument track.
For Microsoft Windows there are several free alternatives which can be downloaded from the Internet for hosting our products, for example TobyBear's MiniHost. You open our .dll file which is by default installed to
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins

| First, try downloading the latest version of our software. If you need new download links, please follow this link.
(PC computers only) if you are running the latest version of our software and still experience crashes, try changing WIVI's graphics driver in Start Menu > WIVI Settings and restart your host program. If none of our graphics driver works for you, and you are running an old computer, make sure you have a fully SSE compatible CPU. Examples of very old PC computers which may not be modern enough to run our software are some of the older Athlon XP systems.

If you want to do a bank transfer, you need to transfer the money to a PayPal account first, and then use PayPal during checkout. At the time of writing, you must change currency to USD during checkout in order to use PayPal for payment.

| We can only sell instruments as part of the collections we offer. Our software is distributed as precompiled packages which cannot be split up.
|
| A:
| We cannot offer license transfers. Our products use a non-obtrusive watermarking copy protection system, linked to the user, without providing an option for us to transfer a license. We sell software under quite similar conditions to how you purchase a mobile app or download an mp3 song from iTunes, i.e. you pay for the rights to use the items, but you are not granted the rights to resell the rights for other people to use those same contents.

| If you own either Orchestral & Band Brass or Woodwinds & Saxophones, or both these collections, we do offer crossgrades to Wivi Band. For pricing and to see what upgrades/crossgrades are available for you, please follow the upgrade link on our products page.

| Yes, we do offer upgrades from Wivi Band, to Orchestral & Band Brass and Woodwinds & Saxophones, so that you do not have to pay for the same instruments twice. For pricing and to see what upgrades/crossgrades are available for you, please follow the upgrade link on our products page.
|
| A:
| This applies only to a limited range of our upgrade routes, when upgrading to a collection from which you do not own any instruments already.
Our new instrument collections are based on the Standard Edition Player, but your old products use the Professional Edition Player. Normally you would need to run your old and new collections as two separate plug-ins with different functionality. This upgrade promotes you to a Professional Edition compatible collection, at the same price.

| The Wivi Band 15-in-1 iOS app had to be heavily optimized and stripped down, compared to our professional range of products, in order to run at acceptable latency. There are currently no plans to port our professional line products to mobile platforms, as mobile platforms are far from being powerful enough to run our more advanced product range despite recent developments.

| We currently have no plans on changing or updating the core functionality of Wivi Band for iOS.
